RETREATS TO THE HIGH PLACES

Posted: October 18, 2011 in Uncategorized

One of the ways I identify with Jesus is in His many retreats to the mountain to pray.  It was in those trips to the heights that Jesus seemed to quicken His total dependence on Father God for everything He said and did. I think of the Mount of Transfiguration, Sermon on the Mount and then the mountains from which He ascended to Heaven after the crucifixion.

It is impossible to know which mountain Jesus most enjoyed.  On a trip to the Holy Land in May, 2008, one surprise of the trip was the numerous mountains in that storied region.  We enjoyed many of them during our tour.  We felt God’s presence everywhere.

We moved to Fort Worth Texas from Nashville, Tennessee in 1975.  What a shock it was to discover such an absence of mountains in our new Texas home.  And it was not long until I began to ask, “Where are the nearest mountains I might be able to visit.”

We discovered Red River, NM, located in the southern Rocky Mountains, part of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.  It is completely surrounded by the Carson National Forest.  It was love at first sight.

It was in Red River that I first learned to bless and not curse.  I want to tell you about all that in a future post on this subject of “Retreats to High Places.”  God spoke to me here about how His church is to operate and function.  Here is the place, I first felt called to the nations in evangelism.

Another thing I discovered about Red River is that I can pray and intercede here with a power and insight like no other place.

In Part 2 of this post, I will share more specifically about what I learned in Red River.

Please send me any prayer request.  I promise to take it before the Lord while we are visiting Red River right now.  I look forward to praying for you and your concerns.

Giving a Christmas to Remember

Children in Philippines received Christmas gifts and food last year.  You can be part of blessing them this year.  See below

This could be a special Christmas for you as well as the sponsored children.  Someone said a few days ago they would give to the children the same amount they plan to spend on Christmas this year for their own family.  What an awesome way to make Christmas special.  I believe it brought a smile to the face of Jesus.  Jesus loves children and is pleased when we love them and bless them.

Would you be willing to give a gift to a child who might not receive anything for Christmas?  Some of our children have never received a gift for Christmas or even any special food to eat on that most special of days.

Go to Christmas for Kids to give a gift of blessing to the poorest of the poor.  You will be blessed.
