Proverbs 21:1 (NASB) “The king’s heart is like channels of water in the hand of the LORD; He turns it wherever He wishes.” Proverbs 21:1 (MSG) “Good leadership is a channel of water controlled by God; he directs it to whatever ends he chooses.”
You are troubled or may become troubled over the political unrest in America. Perhaps the Lord will speak to you in the words that follow. Read prayerfully what follows;
For years, I ran away from any involvement in political things. I grew to hate politics. And because of my attitude, I saw only the negative and disparaging in the debates and rhetoric. But over time, the Lord has shown me the need to embrace politics in the same as Jesus did. He corrected and chastised leaders who were false and hurtful to people (Pharisees and tax collectors for example). But at the same time, He did not turn nor run away. He embraced those who were doing good and blessed them even if they were not perfect (Caesar for example) Jesus stayed engaged in the daily race.
The Lord says, “I want to tap and commission you to become involved. You are not to become corrupted by politics like some others. Be alerted to that danger. But dig in and find your place, says the Lord.”
Lord, I pray for the one reading this message right now. Place your hand upon them. Send them forth into the battle in their own way to the limits of their abilities. Reward them in their inner person for their obedience and faithfulness.

Abba Father, Please forgive me for the mistakes that I’ve made and for what I failed to do because I didn’t know what to do. The Lord gave me a heart to pray for President Bush and his family both when he was in office…and after as he wrote his book. One day we were in Maine on a little vacation. I was praying in the morning and ask ing the Lord for healing and protection for myself and my family. The Lord gave me a verse: “Kings shall come to the brightness of your rising.” The verse jumped out with comfort to me and I said..”Ok Lord…that’s good enough for me.” I felt He was saying that all I have been through would be used by Him and honored by Him…and I would not be sorry. I told my husband I was going to get a campfire permit and stop at an Antique sale at a little Veteran’s hall. While there…the President’s mother came and stood beside me. Without looking up so as not to draw attention…I told her gently that I prayed for her family every day. She said…”pray for my boy”. President Bush had begun to come under attack from many at that time. I told her “I take it as a charge”. I did not remember when I said that…that that was the name of his book…”A Charge To Keep”. The Lord taught me that our prayers do not go unanswered…and that if we will be humble, trustworthy and kind…He will use us to encourage kings.

I’ll add that the way the Lord would show me how to be praying was and is often in dreams. I dreamed I was talking to President Bush in the Oval office once. And once that I was a little late for lunch with him. Being late for lunch in the dream I believed was…’You need to keep praying faithfully…don’t be late in this.’ I added this to show how the Lord would lead me to pray often.

Dear Ras,
I appreciate what you wrote concerning following Jesus’ example to be engaged in the day at hand; to be in the battle each in our own way. In younger days, I picked a local candidate that supported what was important to me (family values). My children and I would help stuff envelopes, display a sign in our yard, and get the Voter’s Guide . It worked for me in those busy years with children and home education. Today I stay informed on a broader base by listening to programs on AFR Talk. AFR stands for American Family Radio. Many issues are brought up by those conservatives who ‘keep up’ with them, and a variety of people call in giving their opinion. I feel greater informed for the vote, or what is on the slate. Often there are issues that need prayer.
After reading the entire reading twice over a period of several days, I remember Jesus said, “Follow Me”. I heard it said recently that our current preseident wond by a million votes, and 34 million conservative voters did not go to the polls. Interesting what one vote will do in the world of politics.
