Have you been to Mexico? Geographically, it is a beautiful country in most every way. The residents are some of the friendliest and forthcoming I have ever met. I know this because my journeys have taken me beyond the border towns where the attitude and geography are totally different.
Mexico and its people are neighbors to us in America. As Christians, Jesus gives us specific instruction as to how we should treat them. My heart tells me that the parable of the Good Samaritan applies. The entire story can be found in Luke 10:30-37. From the story, I have chose four verses to help guide our prayers of intercession:
Luke 10:31-34 (NLT) “By chance a priest came along. But when he saw the man lying there, he crossed to the other side of the road and passed him by. A Temple assistant walked over and looked at him lying there, but he also passed by on the other side. Then a despised Samaritan came along, and when he saw the man, he felt compassion for him. Going over to him, the Samaritan soothed his wounds with olive oil and wine and bandaged them. Then he put the man on his own donkey and took him to an inn, where he took care of him.”
HOT POTATO 1. When budget and health issues are right, nothing adds to a meal quite like the hot baked potato. A potato is very low in Saturated Fat, Cholesterol and Sodium. It is also a good source of Vitamin C, Vitamin B6, Potassium and Manganese. A total nutritional analysis reveals that it has enormous good contributions to make, especially without salt. A sensible mix of seasonings can make it the prize on your plate.
Mexico and its people are like the HOT POTATO 1.
HOT POTATO 2. A raw potato lacks the taste we desire. It simply is not ready for consumption. The potential is there but the reality is that we likely will not eat the uncooked potato.
There is a rapidly growing part of Mexico that displays the unsavory status of the raw potato.
Lord, give us wisdom and courage to deal both redemptively and compassionately with our neighbor Mexico and its people. We pray for those involved in drug distribution and for those who commit crimes.
I commit myself to stand in the gap for you Lord as your intercessor and prayer warrior.
My prayer is that you who read this will respond and post your intercession and prayers. May the Lord link us arm to arm, shoulder to shoulder on our knees for our neighbor Mexico.

May God bless you even more than He already has. You are the only one that I have heard pray for Mexico, rather than thinking of ways to put it farther in the hole. I was born there and know of the people’s struggle with a corrupt goverment. But it was in this Beautiful USA that I gave my life to Christ. I join you in prayer, let’s stand in the gap.

This message today is very much like what I was reading this morning regarding intercession and the difference we make as intercessors with the Lord. Isa 59:16, it reads “…and he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was not intercessor, therefore his arm brought salvation unto him and his righteousness, it sustained him”…I believe this is saying that God is equating intercession as another form of salvation, also….Ezk 22:29-31…(29)”the people of the land have used oppression and exercised robbery, …(30)and have vexed the poor and needy, yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully, and I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found none, …(31) therefore, I have poured out mine indignation upon them; I have caused the fire of my wrath; their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord God. These very important versus tells us that God is employing us to interceed in order that he may bless and save.
Thank you for this message this morning and I thank the Lord for allowing me to read these passages this morning as well.

First of all, I plead the blood of Jesus over us and our families. I put the full armor of God on and thank you God that we are hidden from the enemy. I command that there be no backlash against us or our families in the name of Jesus.
Father, first of all I ask you to forgive us for any prejudice that we or our ancestors have had. Forgive us for any time that we thought we were better than people in Mexico or any other country. We ask you to give us clear vision so that we can see the people in Mexico as you see them – beautiful, perfect and complete because of the blood of Jesus. Help us to see the gifts that You have placed in them that we need. Give us eyes to see Jesus in them.
The chastisement for our peace was upon Jesus and by His stripes we are healed. Father we ask you to release the peace/shalom that Your Son purchased at the cross on Your people in Mexico. Jesus came to bring peace on earth and good will to men. He said, My peace I leave with you. My peace I give. Father we stand in the gap for the people in Mexico and speak shalom to them. We declare that violence and destruction will no longer be heard in their land, but their walls will be called salvation and their gates praise. Father, we ask you to bring peace/shalom to the people in Mexico because this is what Your Son Jesus purchased for them through the cross.
Father we pray that you give the people in Mexico a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Christ. We ask you to open the eyes of their understanding that they might know the hope to which You have called them. Open blinded eyes. Take the veil off their eyes and let them know Your great love and that you have a plan to prosper them and not harm them, to give them a hope and a future. Thank you Father that where sin abounds, grace abounds more. I ask you to let Your light shine in the darkness and bring the knowledge of Christ to every person and family in Mexico. Father you promised that you would pour out Your Spirit upon all flesh. We ask you to pour Your Spirit out upon your people in Mexico and bring a great awakening. May the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus set Your people free from the law of sin and death. We speak resurrection life to Mexico.
We pray for laborers to be sent into the harvest field. Father, we ask you to remove the earth that has buried Your compassion in us. Let the river of Your love flow again so that Your love will compel us to be ambassadors of reconciliation. Baptize us in Your love so that all fear will be cast out and that that Your perfect love will compel us to go into the harvest fields without fear.
As I thought about Ras’ word about potatoes and the potential in those potatoes, I thought of how potatoes rot if they are left unharvested in the field. Father, we ask you to fill us with your compassion and boldness and remove all fear so that we will go into the harvest fields so that the potential in those fields will not be lost. Give us wisdom Lord so that we can be successful. We ask for the money that is needed to go into the harvest fields in Mexico and other nations and bring hope to Your people and to show them Your love. Thank you that you said that you are able to cause all grace to abound to us so that in all things at all times we will have an abundance for every good work.
Father, we thank you that you have a plan and purpose for each person in Mexico. We call forth the destinies of your people in that nation. Jesus said that nobody could come to Him unless the Father draws them. Father, we ask you to draw the people in Mexico to Jesus. Open their eyes so that they might know Him. May they know the length, the width and the depth of Your love that passes knowledge. Give them a hunger and thirst for Your Word. Make the people of that nation like trees planted by living water that bear fruit in season. Make them into the good food that will satisfy nations.
And Father, I pray that we would have eyes to see Jesus in these people and realize that it is really Jesus that we are ministering to when we minister to them. Help us not miss this opportunity. Help us not miss Jesus when He comes disguised in the least of our brothers. We ask you to bring justice against our adversaries that are holding back the money to do Your will. Open the heavens and pour out a blessing we cannot contain. Rebuke the devourer on our behalf so that the people in Mexico and all the nations can see that there is a God in heaven who loves and cares for them.
And when He was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes” (Luke 19, 41-42)
Father we pray that the people in Mexico will have eyes to see that it is Jesus who is the only one who can give them peace. Give them this revelation Father. Draw them to Your Son Father. Help the people in Mexico not miss their time of visitation.

After I posted the last prayer, I heard Jer. 29:7, “…seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”
I was also trying to find a Christian station on the tv, but the only thing that kept coming up was what was supposed to be a comedy about ‘drugs in America.’
So Father, we ask for a great deliverance for not only Mexico but also America from the culture of drugs and violence and death. We pray that people would come to realize that the peace that they are seeking is not found in drugs but in Jesus Christ. We declare that violence and destruction will no longer be heard in our land but our walls will be called salvation and our gates praise. Bring justice against our adversaries Lord God and save Your people in Mexico and in America.

In the last year, God has put it on my heart to pray for the growing drug problem and violence in Mexico. I have spoken of it many times to try to bring people to the realization that this isn’t just Mexico’s problem, but the worlds. God has shown me what chaos can happen if this goes unchecked. If Mexico loses law, many will take advantage of the close proximity and access to America (not because we are deserving of safety, but because God has placed us in a postion of authority over the world from our country’s founder’s faithfulness). I have prayed for people (unlikely people that didn’t appear to have the power or strength to be placed in authority over enforcing the laws) that have bravely stood up in positions of law enforcement, people that knew it came with great threats to their lives and their family and friend’s lives. I started to become discouraged that many of the people that I prayed for were murdered or quietly decided that the risks were too great. I am tired of putting God in a box and losing hope. I feel that many of God’s people are in the same position. Not only am I praying for Mexico and its seemingly beyond hope situation and lawlessness, but also for God’s children to understand and fully grasp that God is the Creator of all things and is powerful beyond description. He reigns where we see no hope, He heals nations, He heals hearts, and He is STILL God. My post may not be eloquent and may seem elementary, but I just don’t think we are “there” just yet and His children need to move beyond the hopelessness and be encouraged. How can we offer what we don’t yet have-faith that moves mountains. If you’re “there” I would encourage you to not keep it to yourselves, but not to grow weary when others aren’t. Keep encouraging the believers around you who appear to have lost hope.

Father, by your authority and by your Son’s name, Jesus, target each and every stronghold that evil has in our neighbor nation and do with these strongholds your will. This nation which is filled with beautiful, enduring, resourceful people is covered by the blood of Jesus Christ. With your full strength, shoot your arrow at each principality that has established itself in and around Mexico. My children’s great-grandparents grew up there. I ask for freedom for their descendants both in Mexico and in the United States, and for each precious family, in the name of Jesus. Refresh, equip, and enable those who are yours to discern, to pray, to minister, to evangelize. Open your doors to those who belong to you. You see and you know. You provide. Amen.

I feel that what you are saying Ras is basically what Jesus told the body of Christ they must do; Love the Lord your God with all your heart and YOUR NEIGHBOR as ourself. It is interesting to see that God is really moving on the hearts of all His people to “reach beyond church walls, beyond ourselves…to touch your neighbor in unconditional love”…let the world see Jesus in and through all we do and say. That God gave you the passage of the good Samaritan is fitting to the call this day…as it was the church who turned their back on the one who needed help and it was one from the world (Samaritan) who saw the need of the man who was crying out for help.
My prayer is that each member of the “body of Christ” will have a heart that is continually broken by the needs of people generally. All is owned by our heavenly Father; we need to always keep our hand open; both to give of our gifts, talents, finances, etc. in order to also receive the abundant blessings that will surely overtake us!:) I was reading my devotional this AM and I ask that you would accept it as my prayer for each of us as intercessors and members of the body of Christ, that it will become the prayer for the “whole body” in the coming days. “Lord, open my heart, open my eyes that I may see the ones You send across my path, in Jesus name.”
“Your power to help your brother does not depend on him: it is in your own hands. It is conditional upon your casting out the beam out of your own eye. Attack not your brother’s faults but your own. As you eradicate those you discover your brother needs help, and you acquire the power to give him that help to conquer and to eradicate any of his faults and in so doing, help him to reach his potential and destiny in Christ.”
